Muehlenbeckia Axillaris

Bring a soft green finish to slopes, pathway edges, and the spaces between stepping stones with Muehlenbeckia axillaris, also called Creeping Wire Vine. Its tiny, rounded leaves and slender, dark wiry stems create a low, spreading carpet that adds fine texture to your landscape.

Use it to fill gaps in a planting design or let it trail across the surface of a container. Its tolerance for light foot traffic makes it a practical option for areas you walk through occasionally.

• Compact growth: It reaches approximately 2–4 inches tall and spreads 2–3 feet wide.
• Sun exposure: Plant it in full sun to partial shade; afternoon shade is beneficial in hot climates.
• Watering: Water regularly while it establishes, then give it occasional deep watering.
• Soil: Well-drained soil suits this groundcover.
• Growing range: It is suited to USDA Zones 6–9.

Its fine leaves and wiry stems bring a delicate contrast to the broader shapes and harder lines in a garden.
